The Future of Taxes in Michigan

With higher-than-expected revenue forecast for the coming year, tax cuts have become an important part of the Fiscal Year 2023 budget discussion. The Michigan Senate and House have already passed versions of an income tax cut and proposals to expand the state's Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and repeal the so-called “pension tax” are on the table. And, an initiative to cut the state gas tax has recently been announced to combat the rising cost of gasoline. This forum will discuss these proposals and their long term implications for Michigan’s budget.
