Gov. William G. Milliken Legacy Forum
Tuesday, October 6, 2020
Gov. William G.Milliken became governor in January 1969 when then-Gov. George Romney resigned to become U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. He was elected in 1970, re-elected in 1974 and again in 1978, serving three full terms. He decided against seeking a fourth full term, and retired to his northern Michigan home but remained active in public life through environmental, arts and women's rights issues until his death in October 2019.
IPPSR and MSU's Office of K-12 Outreach in the College of Education have been called upon to host this special Gov. William G. Milliken Legacy Forum to illuminate education policy and finance from the perspective of the Milliken era through current times and the decades between.
