Infrastructure in Michigan

Just about a month ago, Congress passed the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, designed to expand resources for critical infrastructure and local services. The bill carries to Michigan an estimated $10 billion for maintenance and upkeep of essential infrastructure like roads, bridges, schools, water and water systems, public transportation, dams, railways and energy systems. Infrastructure helps power the state’s economy, attracts new business opportunities and engages citizens in work that builds Michigan as a national leader. How are communities positioning themselves to invest in essential infrastructure?  How will additional financing provide valuable resources for communities facing pandemic recovery. Our panelists will discuss not only the recently passed initiative to improve the nation’s infrastructure, but also its impact alongside the federal American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 earmarking an estimated $4.4 billion for Michigan’s state, county, city and tribal governments.
