MPLP Fellow Scholarship Funds
MPLP provides 24 annual fellowships valued to cost $12,000 each. Organizations that sponsor a Fellow Scholarship have the opportunity to choose the recipient from the upcoming MPLP class. Donors will be provided with fellows’ applications from which to select recipients. MPLP will assist you in building a relationship with your Fellow, an up-andcoming leader who has a desire for public service and is likely to be pursuing a long career in Michigan politics and policymaking.
MPLP Legacy Funds - $60,000 ($12,000 annually for 5 years)
Donors can establish their own legacy fund to honor or memorialize a friend or colleague. MPLP will assist you in working with Michigan State University to create an ongoing scholarship fund. A five year annual $12,000 donation per year is the minimum required pledge to name an MPLP legacy fund.
The Jacalyn Hart Hadden Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2011 by Consumers Energy. Family, friends and colleagues sought an appropriate way to honor Jacie after cancer claimed her life. The recipients of this award are those fellows whose commitments to professional excellence, scholarship and improving the state’s political process mirror the priorities that Jacie pursued throughout her professional life.
The Barbara Burr Gattorn Memorial Scholarship Fund was launched by friends and admirers to create an annual fellowship for a woman on a nonpartisan basis to participate in MPLP. Barbara’s passion for politics and devotion to public service led a group of her close friends to support others in pursuing political leadership through the development of this fellowship.
MPLP Annual Fellow - $12,000
Donors may also choose to sponsor a fellow without creating a legacy fund. Some organizations have chosen to sponsor an employee who has been selected as a fellow in the upcoming program and others chose to sponsor a fellow previously unknown to them.
General Scholarship
Donors can make a donation of any amount to help fund the fellowship program.
Additional benefits for Legacy Fund and Annual Fellow donors include:
- If a Fellow is selected by more than one organization the Fellow will be able to choose which scholarship to accept
- Opportunity to build a relationship with an MPLP Fellow
- Invitations to attend alumni social and educational activities
- Up to ten tickets to the MPLP Annual Dinner or Breakfast
- Two tickets to VIP Speakers Reception at the MPLP Annual Dinner or Breakfast
- Recognition on the MPLP website and in the MPLP Annual Dinner and Breakfast program book
