Elections, recession and education are in the forefront of this conversation. IPPSR Director Matt Grossmann, Economics Professor Charles Ballard and Associate IPPSR Director Arnold Weinfeld lead off this discussion. Their discussion: the country's unexpected coronavirus-caused recession, Michigan's March primary election and a new IPPSR research facility taking a deep look at what the nation's schools are doing as COVID-19 causes classrooms to close or on to the internet.
In the final segment, guests Dr. Keith Hampton and Dr. Johannes Bauer, affiliated with MSU's Quello Center, discuss their latest report. With the help of an Michigan Applied Public Policy Research grant from IPPSR, theirr report investigated the broadband gap and K-12 student performance, a subject made even more timely by the onset of the novel coronavirus pandemic and resulting closure of schools for the remainder of the school year.
