The United States dates its first census back to1790 as the country grew and needed more infomation about its people and its economy.

The decennial census -- conducted every 10 years -- gives us valuable insights into our history and our present trends and yields the data necessary to draw the lines for election of U.S. Congress, Michigan's House of Representatives and Michigan's Senate.

2020 was such a year and IPPSR will discuss the census' value to the state, including but not limited to, the drawing of voting districts currently underway. Read more about that by clicking here.
