Creston is a US Navy veteran and small business owner from Petoskey. He co-owns a land-use consulting business. He serves on the Emmet County Republican Party's Executive Committee and as delegate to the 2024 Republican National Convention. He volunteers with local charitable organizations, including veterans’ groups. He is currently pursuing a bachelor’s in public administration.
