IPPSR accepts proposals from MSU faculty for funding of ongoing research or new research that is focused on policy issues or trends that are relevant to the links between human, animal, and environmental health.

Funded research will help inform discussions being held in the policy-making community. The award varies up to $15,000.00. An additional $10,000.00 designated for survey research is available to grant applicants should survey methods be included as part of the research plan.

Funded projects are intended to run for one year from beginning to the end (October to October).

A policy brief written to inform policy advocates of the research, its findings and implied policy options is required of all awarded proposals.

Faculty members have successfully used this grant opportunity to build pilot projects that are later included in larger grant proposals. The grant project has also been effective in engaging either undergraduates or graduate students in research activity. Finally, projects have served as a link of communication and information exchange between university faculty, policy makers, and practitioners.
