Congratulations! You've been selected as a legislative intern in the Michigan House of Representatives or the Michigan Senate.

Now starts the hard work!

Michigan State University's Institute for Public Policy and Social Research has just the event to help you make your way through the Michigan Legislature and state government.

A workshop featuring experts, internship supervisors and those who have been success interns and are willing to share their tips on the topic with you.

Sign up now for this helpful Daniel Rosenthal Internship Workshop session on this Friday, Sept. 22 session. Rosenthal, an MSU Lyman Briggs student, was a legislative intern at his untimely death. The workshop and an associated awards program were established by his family to honor his experiences.

The agenda starts with networking before a panel discussion featuring "best" practices for interns. Expect to hear what makes a good intern, how interns can make the maximize their experiences and suggestions from those who supervise interns and can share the best ways to make the most of an internship.

Our facilitator will be Max Olivero, Field Experience Coordinator, James Madison College, Michigan State University. Featured panelists are:

  • Mary Herman, Special Assistant, Michigan Senate Democrats
  • Molly Korn, Deputy Legislative Director, House Democratic Leader Sam Singh
  • Maxine Mickens, Chief of Staff, Representative Bettie C. Scott
