Professional Staff
Our
professional staff includes our senior survey methodologist, applications
programmers, project directors/managers, operations director, and
analysts. OSR staff has managed and helped design hundreds of survey
projects and their many facets, including sampling designs (simple
cross-sectional samples, disproportionate stratified designs, and
panel studies), list samples and random digit dial samples, respondent
selection techniques, weighting schemes, question construction, interview
scripting, questionnaire design and formatting, administration protocols,
human subjects protection, data coding, data analysis, and results
presentation.
Supervisors/Monitors
Shift supervisors are responsible for organizing the workload and
distributing work assignments among interviewers and data entry
personnel scheduled to work the shift. Supervisors must have a thorough
knowledge of the study's instruments and procedures so they can
answer questions and provide decision rules for interviewers and
coders. They assist in training. Supervisors are responsible for
monitoring interviewer and data entry personnel performances. Supervisors
are appointed from the ranks of the most experienced interviewers
and must have demonstrated a command of both interviewing techniques
and organization skills.
Research Aides/Interviewers
Research aides at the Institute's interviewing facility conduct
telephone interviews, data entry, and mail surveys. Topics of data
collection include health care, environment, and various other public
policy issues. Applications are currently being taken for these
